What exactly is Gaara of the Desert? Is it some kind of desert buffalo? Or is it an Ogre that eats unsuspecting travelers? You’re going to be amazed. He’s a person in a Japanese cartoon and comic book called Naruto
Gaara of the Desert has an interesting name and is associated with many Japanese names and concepts that have to do with his character. A Japanese letter is written on Gaara’s head. It means love, and is the second character in his name. The words self and carnage are also carried in his name. Therefore his name can mean carnage loving self, or boy loves to kill.
Since Gaara of the desert enjoys killing people, his name is appropriate. At six years old he murdered a person who passed him in the streets. That concerned his father. His father sent assassins to kill Gaara, but instead Gaara killed them. Gaara even killed some ninjas his father sent against them.
Gaara of the Desert is around 12 when Naruto first starts. Gaara’s father had intended him to become a death machine. His power and violence comes from a demon that was put inside him at birth. If Gaara dares fall asleep, the demon will completely control him.
In the beginning Gaara of the desert was Naruto’s enemy. Both were born in similar circumstances. But the choices they make in life were not the same. At its most basic, Gaara was evil while Naruto was good. They face each other many times. Naruto eventually kills Gaara by removing the demon from inside him. Later in the series, however, Naruto resurrects Gaara.
It’s said that no hero can exist without an arch villain, an antagonist who can push him to his limits. Gaara of the Desert was the villain that pushed Naruto to his best. He is very well liked by fans of the series, and his battles with Naruto are considered the high points of both the Manga and the Anime.

The sport of parachuting, or skydiving, is one of those exciting activities that will produce an adrenaline rush in almost anyone who tries it. Initially, you will want to do a tandem dive with your instructor. Tandem skydiving means that you will be harnessed to your instructor and requires only a minimum of training before you go.
In most cases, parachute training doesn’t have to take a long time. Typically, it is no more than thirty minutes. Doing the training and a first jump may take only half of a day. Testing undertaken as part of a parachuting training program can give a student confidence that the training program has been more than enough, which is an important consideration for obvious reasons.
When it comes to taking your first jump, a tandem free-fall is often the most common form of parachute jump. A tandem jump means that the jump is done while the student and the instructor are attached to the same parachute system. You will free-fall for about thirty to fifty seconds, depending on the altitude. Both the instructor and student descend together under one single parachute that has dual controls.
Another method that is used is called accelerated free-fall, and is done with two instructors exiting the airplane with the student. All three fall together for about thirty to fifty seconds, depending on the altitude. The instructors will maintain a grip on the student’s harness. This is for “in the air instructional purposes” as well as helping stabilize the student, if necessary. When a level of about 4,000 feet above the ground has been reached, the student is instructed to open the parachute and pilot it to the landing area.
Another form of skydiving is called the instructor-assisted deployment, also called the static-line method. This is done after classroom instruction of the essentials has been completed, and includes climbing out and exiting of the aircraft, free-falling, canopy flight, landing and emergency procedures. The year is 1939 and a new type of entertainment is born, one that will provide kids and adults alike with hours of reading, studying and appreciating some of the best dialogue ever written and most outstanding scenes ever drawn. I’m, of course, describing to you, the birth of one of the largest, greatest comic book companies of all time to hit the stands – Marvel Comics.
A young, already very popular Martin Goodman, founded the now ‘Marvel’ in 1939 as ‘Timely Publications’. It was with Timely Publications that we saw comics created which reflected the war, the new way of life, and also when new characters such as Ziggy Pig and Silly seal were born.
Timely Publications continued to pick up momentum and achieve exponential growth all through the 1940′s, then suddenly in 1950, it was branded under the new name ‘Atlas Comics’. This was a smart move on Goodman’s behalf because post-war America was tired of the same old superheroes. They needed something new and fresh. Atlas Comics provided just that. Atlas expanded into new genres such as westerns, drama, humor and espionage to name but a few! Although Atlas had great success, they did not attempt to innovate and instead let popular culture provide them with all the material they needed.
Finally in 1961 a brand of comic books is revealed. Marvel Comics launches their first comic anthology ‘Amazing Adventures’ and it proves to be a hit. By this time a strong rivalry had developed between DC comics and Marvel. In response to DC Comic’s ‘Justice League of America’, Marvel Comics came forward with the acclaimed ‘The Fantastic 4′ during this time. Superheroes were once again back into the spotlight and it was time for Marvel to steal the spotlight.
Marvel worked on a variety of comic book series which would secure its’ place as Comic Book King. These included Spider-man, X-men, The Hulk, Daredevil, Iron Man and so many more.
Why was Marvel such a smashing success? There’s an easy way to explain this and it’s known as humility. Many people first saw Devils Tower Wyoming in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It is a unique looking structure with a flat top and deep gouges down the sides. In fact in the movie, it was replicated in mashed potatoes and in dirt from someone’s backyard. It became a landing site for an alien craft. While truth may not be stranger than fiction in this case, it’s still an interesting place.
Something has to be explained. Devils Tower Wyoming is a mountain, not a city. You can check out maps of it at the University of Wisconsin website. Understanding the elevation of the tower is important. It really is an awesome site.
Now for a second Devils Tower Wyoming point. Notice that when it’s written the apostrophe is missing. Proper English writing would place an ‘s at the end of devil. But the name has never been written that way. So don’t be alarmed, or think it’s a mistake when it’s seen without the apostrophe before the “s.”
In 1906 Devils Tower Wyoming was named the first ever national monument. Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt did it. He wasn’t known as Teddy to family or close friend. The Panama Canal treaty was also one of his ideas. Back to this monument, it covers nearly 5 ? square kilometers of Wyoming.

I’d say I average about $35-$40 a week on Marvel comics, much to my girlfriend’s dismay. I’m hoping that the number of Marvel Titles I buy and review will attract a comprehensive spectrum of current Marvel collectors.

An artist that everyone thinks is a legend may not be one of the ones that I’m in love with, (Jack Kirby, anybody? Ooooohhhh… I’ll bet THAT will start things off on the right foot. lol).
