In Burlington the Jersey Devil caused a stir when its footprints appeared all around town. These were not normal human footprints. They were cloven hooves. A group of Jacksonville hunters organized a search. The hunting dogs, however, refused to track it. In Glaucester a man saw it on his roof. He said it had a horse face and was about 3.5 feet high.
A telephone line worker said the Jersey Devil attacked him . It chased him up a telephone pole. He was only saved when a coworker appeared, driving it off by shooting it in the wing. How did a bullet hurt it when a cannonball couldn’t?
Maybe the Jersey Devil only appears to people who have had a few too many. But the stories are still fun.
